Choosing within pens and fineliners

The word to look for is archival or waterproof: those inks are pigment-based and will not lift when a wash goes over them once dry. Standard drawing pens and gel pens are dye-based and will bleed. Where a listing does not state it, assume it is not waterproof and test on a scrap first.
